10 Facts About Tumbbad That Will Blow Your Mind! — Utopian Corps
With it’s emphasis on the topic of greed and a set-up which resembles a dark bed-time story, Tumbbad has to be one of the best Indian horror flicks ever created. Ironically it’s a horror movie devoid of ghosts! So, let’s dwell more into the universe crafted by director- Rohan Anil Barve, and Sohum with these facts. Before we move on let me tell you that the article has been divided into 2 sections: Spolier-Free and Spoiler Zone!

1. So here’s a riddle for you… Can you guess what the film has in common with Assassin’s Creed & Hitman? I know you aren’t here for riddles but come on, you ain’t that lazy! Any guesses? Alright, they share the same musician! That’s right: Jesper Kyd!
2. See all that rain in the film? Well, it’s real!
3. The movie was dubbed about 4 times, since the original voice records were masked due to the sound of rain. Also, Sohum Shah wanted to replace his North-Indian accent with a Marathi accent.
4. Localites in Tumbbad village believe that an ancient treasure is buried underground in one of the prominent areas of the village which was left behind by the ancestors. 5. The first draft and storyboard for the film was first made in 1996 by Rohan Anil Barve but apparently the draft had to go through some rough phases and development hell; hence the delay!
6. Tumbbad was India’s consideration for 91’s Academy Awards 2019, alongside Raazi, Bioscopewala, Padmaavat & October; but ultimately ‘Village Rockstars’ was selected as the Oscars entry!
7. The film was selected to be premiered at the Venice Film Festival 2018, which is indeed a great honor for the Indian film industry!
